Orchestra giovanile
Filarmonici Friulani
Music played by young people for young people. An orchestra under-35. We create culture everywhere.
Music and culture by young people for young people. With this spirit, the Orchestra giovanile Filarmonici Friulani was born in 2015. It is the only example of a musical ensemble entirely managed, coordinated and curated by under-35s and recognized by the Ministry of Culture in the region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia (Italy).
Passion, expertise and profession are the keywords that characterize all our activities and have enabled us to involve more than 200 musicians aged between 16 and 35. All the instrumentalists are originally from the Triveneto area and have trained in musical institutions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia as well as in the most renowned Italian and foreign academies.
Over the years, OFF has played in prestigious stages such as Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, Teatro Verdi in Pordenone, Villa Manin, and the Basilica of Aquileia. It also organizes Orchestra in Miniatura, a touring festival of concerts with narration that have featured Luca Mercalli, Nives Meroi, Angelo Floramo, Loredana Lipperini, and Matteo Bellotto.
OFF has been conducted by, among others, Filippo Maria Bressan, Marco Fiorini, Felix Hornbachner, Ferdinando Sulla, Walther Themel, and Igor Vlainjc, and has collaborated with Coro Polifonico di Ruda, Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the Unione delle Società Corali Friulane.
It has premiered pieces by Valter Sivilotti, Simonide Braconi, Alessio Domini and Ferdinando Termini, and is a promoter of La Gnove Musiche, an international composition competition for composers under 35.
Notable soloists who have collaborated with the orchestra include Emanuela Battigelli, Andrea Cesari, Amedeo Cicchese, Christian Federici, Alex Sebastianutto, Christian Sebastianutto, Patrizia Tassini, Matteo Trentin and Laura Ulloa.
Concerts by the Orchestra Filarmonici Friulani have been broadcast by Rai5, RaiRadio 1 FVG, Telefriuli and Udinese TV. Artistic and music director is violinist, composer and conductor Alessio Venier, born in 1992.
